Tom - Page one

This is page one of the three page warm-up comic that I mentioned previously. It was written by Martin Tingle. Here is the script, Tom V3.0.

I think it came out all right. It is definitely not going to be the style I use in the "Young Henry" story. It takes too flippin long! Or maybe I'm just too slow. heh.

I was initially going to do all three pages of this. I still may. But I did have an idea this morning that I may simply try drawing this page again in a drastically different style of two. Oh, I can never really get away from the way I draw, but I may be able to make my life a lot easier if I can simplify and still have it look alright. Right? Looser anyway.

Anyhoo, here is the piece...

Zang! Looks great Ben... the angles and the facial expressions all great comic work :)

Yeah, I tried to post a comment on DA, but was having no luck.

Anyway, the first guy's comment on DA kind of pissed me off, so this is what I was trying to post:

Hmm, faces look great to me. They're stylized, sure (in that distinctive "Ben" look), but they're showing real emotion, not anime "big bubbly eyes". :)

Great work Ben. Love the layout and the storytelling is spot on. Can't wait to see more.

I think the pages look great too, but I would venture to say that there are too many lines on the womans face. I have problems with that myself because I love all the little age lines on faces. Honestly, that's pretty minor. Great line work, as always, and good job moving the camera around. I'd almost like to see at least one panel shot a little farther back, but again, that's minor.

Really man, I'd love to see you do the whole three pages in this style! It's a great style!

Man, I need to get started on my pages...seeing this page from you is quite inspiring...
